About the Fellowships
Family Law Project Summer Fellows continue the work of Pro Bono Students Canada (PBSC) students who are participating in the Family Law Project during the school year. Initially established in the fall of 1998, the Family Law Project enables law students from the University of Toronto and Osgoode Hall Law School who have taken or are taking a course in family law, to volunteer at the two Toronto family law courts and the family law court in Brampton.
Working under the supervision of duty counsel and advice lawyers, students help unrepresented litigants in the court navigate the system and fill out the complex forms required at every stage of the process. Students also participate in PBSC summer program meetings and contribute to the expansion and development of the FLP program.
In past years, this opportunity has been made available through the generosity of Legal Aid Ontario.
Who Can Apply
The FLP positions are open to upper year students who have volunteered for the Family Law Project in the past. The selection committee will take into account:

An up-to-date résumé;
A cover letter describing your interest in the program and your ideas for the development of the Family Law Project;
A short writing sample; and
Information regarding your financial status (including financial aid documents).
