PBSC Internship Experiences 2007

Among its many programs, the University of Toronto branch of Pro Bono Students Canada (PBSC) runs the Donner Civic Leadership Fellowships and the June Callwood Program in Aboriginal Law Fellowships, through which PBSC funds students to do public interest work full-time during the summers.

In the following reports, PBSC interns describe their internship experiences during the summer of 2007.

Dwight Montgomery June Callwood Program in Aboriginal Law Fellowship Aboriginal Legal Services of Toronto "Assisting the Tenant Rights worker, I have been meeting with clients and helping them directly. I've negotiated settlements with landlords, and attended meetings with tenants and hearings at the Landlord and Tenant Board. This has been an excellent opportunity to develop hands-on experience with people who have real and pressing problems." Laura Best Laura Best Donner Civic Leadership Fund Fellowship B.C. Public Interest Advocacy Centre "During the past four months I did something that most aspiring lawyers don't get to do until several years into their career: I was part of a team filing the Final Response for an enormous, 107-day-long trial."
