The Graduate Career Advisor provides GPLL.M. and LL.M. students with a range of career supports tailored to the graduate student experience. These include asynchronous tools and content, online and in-person workshops and events with alumni and employers, and direct service delivery, such as 1-to-1 coaching and advising, group advising, resume and cover letter reviews, and mock interviews. Students also have access to more than 50 workshops and employer events annually on a range of career topics, career guides, job postings and more.

Career Development Programs
Throughout the year, the Graduate Career Advisor and the CDO organize and facilitate career development programs on a variety of topics, including programs which explore career opportunities in different work place settings, private and public sectors, multiple jurisdictions, within and beyond the practice of law, as well as programs which teach specific job search skills.
These events are shared on the Faculty’s event calendar and posted in the Faculty’s career management service, UTLawCareers (UTLC).

Resource Material
Graduate students have access to a wide array of resource material on various topics, as well as tailored resources pertaining to their particular needs as NCA candidates and graduate students in an intensive 1-year program. Examples of the types of resources to which students have access include: a guide on job search strategies designed specifically for graduate students, guides on academic careers, international careers, public interest careers, careers in various areas of law, post-doctoral fellowships, and career options in the Ontario government. All of our resource material is available online on UTLC. Several career related books are also on reserve in the Bora Laskin Law Library. During individual counselling sessions, the Graduates Career Advisor will also help direct students to additional resource material specific to their particular career development needs.

Access to the University of Toronto Law Career Network
UTLC is the Faculty’s career management system, on which all workshops, events, resources, job postings, template application materials and more are posted. All graduate students have access to this website during their studies and as alumni post-graduation.

Job Postings
The CDO obtains numerous job postings throughout the year. All postings, with the exception of academic positions, are posted on UTLC. Academic job postings are normally circulated to students through other channels.
