Prof. Ben Alarie with pink high-heels

You might notice some male law professors and students hobbling about in their pumps and stillettos on International Women’s Day, March 8, 2012. That’s because they’re willing to brave callouses and pinched toes to “Walk a Day in Her Shoes,” a unique student initiative to raise funds for the Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic, which provides support and legal services for abused women, and the White Ribbon Campaign to end gender-based violence.

Prof. Ben Alarie landed a pair of size 15 wide pink pumps, purchased online, and student organizer Benjamin Iscoe says he’s already been practicing in his red stilettos. [We don't think co-organizer and 1L Michelle Jennett needs much practice.] Staff person Jeff Huh and Librarian John Bolan are also going to participate.

Other professors participating are: Bruce Chapman, Markus Dubber, Andrew Green, Ed Iacobucci, and Jim Phillips. Click on the professors’ names to view their donation page.

Numerous students have vowed to brave the pump, and we’re looking forward to the photo op on Thursday afternoon.
