An article written by alumnus Eric Monkman, JD/MA 2013, in the last issue of the Law Review was recently cited by the Quebec Superior Court.

A New Approach to the Consideration of Collateral Consequences in Criminal Sentencing, (2014) 72 U.T. Fac. L. Rev. 38) was published in Vol. 72:2. Alumna Adrienne Ho, JD 2014, and 3L Ljiljana Stanić were the editors-in-chief. Prof. Simon Stern was the faculty advisor.

See footnote nine in Reyes c R, 2014 QCCS 4434.

“The Law Review is cited regularly by the courts, but I believe this is the first time that an issue published after 2010 has been cited,” says Ho. “It is nice to know that an article which was only available publicly in July was getting hits by the following month.”

The student-run Law Review was established in 1942, and has evolved from a record of student life to a professional, academic publication with an international distribution reaching countries as far away as New Zealand, Australia, and Japan.
