New Admits - First YearYOUR NEXT STEPS 2018

Please retain your Offer of Admission letter, and bring it with you when you arrive at the university. Upper year classes are tentatively expected to begin on Tuesday September 4, 2018.
 
Although they are numbered, some of the steps should be started simultaneously, so read all steps before you proceed with the first step.
 

1. Accept your Offer of Admission online

WHEN
Accept the Offer by the deadline in your Offer of Admission letter.
HOW
Inform both the university and OLSAS
  1. Email the JD Admissions Office, stating your intent to accept and provide your current contact information (mailing & permanent addresses; mobile and home phone numbers).

  2. Log into your OLSAS account, select the Secure Applicant Messaging (SAM) tool and accept the offer online.
 

2. Submit together: the signed NCA Agreement & the acceptance Tuition Deposit

WHENNCA Program Terms & Conditions (NCA Agreement)
Submit by the Offer of Admission deadline in your Offer of Admission letter.
HOW
Read and sign the agreement, then:
  1. Retain for your records, one copy of the signed agreement, and
  2. Submit the signed agreement (including course requests) directly to the JD Admissions Office, along with the acceptance tuition deposit.

To verify that the agreement was received contact the JD Admissions Office.

  
WHEN
Acceptance tuition deposit
In addition to accepting the Offer of Admission, to confirm your acceptance at the university, a deposit is required, which will be applied to your tuition. 
 
Pay the deposit by the Offer of Admission deadline in your Offer of Admission letter.
 
The Offer of Admission will be cancelled if the deposit is not received by the deadline. For the deposit, $100 is non-refundable.
HOW 
$500 in Canadian currency, in the form of a certified cheque or money order only, payable to
“University of Toronto”.
  1. Retain for your records a receipt for, or a copy of, the certified cheque or money order
  2. Submit to the JD Admissions Office, the deposit, along with the signed NCA Agreement

To verify that the deposit was received contact the JD Admissions Office.

 

3. Get your TCard, Enable your UTORid & Get your UTmail+

WHENTCard
Get your card after you have paid the acceptance tuition deposit, and before the first day of classes.
HOW
TCard is your official U of T identification (student card) for access to the library and to sit exams. Get a card if you have not been a U of T student during the past two years, or if your card has been misplaced, lost or damaged. Your photo will be taken for the T‐Card.

The card must be obtained first. Visit the T‐Card office at any U of T campus in‐person. 

  • For new students who will be enrolled in the NCA program only, bring your:
    1. NCA Program Offer of Admission letter
    2. Valid Government-issued photo identification, for descriptions of the required documents and identification and office locations go to http://tcard.utoronto.ca
  • For students who will be enrolled in both the GPLLM and the NCA programs, bring your:
    1. GPLLM Offer of Admission letter
    2. Valid Government-issued photo identification, for descriptions of the required documents and identification and office locations go to http://tcard.utoronto.ca
    3. Valid proof of immigration status in Canada (e.g. citizen, permanent resident, study permit visa)
 
WHEN
UTORid 
Immediately after you get your TCard, enable your UTORid
HOW
The UTORid provides e-access to key student services, including housing resources. The id is listed on your Offer of Admission letter. 
 
New students to U of T
When you obtain your TCard, the TCard staff will also provide the UTORid activation information for enabling the id. Go online to enable your UTORid.

Returning U of T students
If you have an active UTORid then use it.
If not, first get a new TCard, the TCard staff will also provide the UTORid activation information for enabling the id, then go online to enable your UTORid

 
WHEN
UTmail+
Get your account activated before the first day of classes.
HOW 
UTmail+ is the only email used by the university to communicate officially with students.  
 
New Students to U of T
Immediately after enabling your UTORid, log in to activate your account at http://mail.utoronto.ca
 
Returning U of T Students
If your mail account is operational, then use it. 
If not then contact the Help Desk, First Floor, Robarts Library, or call 416-978-HELP (4357), or email help.desk@utoronto.ca 
 
All students: Let us know you've got them both!
As a courtesy, and to prevent future reminders to do so, please let us know that you've obtained your TCard and/or set up your UTmail+ account, by emailing JD Admissions from your UTmail+ account

 4. Enrol in courses 

WHENLate August.
Upper year classes are tentatively expected to begin on September 5, 2017. 
HOW
 
Course Enrolment
Complete and submit the Course Selection Form in your NCA package by the deadline listed on the form. In late August the JD Admissions Office will inform you of the assigned courses by email. Consult with the JD Admissions Office for all changes to assigned courses.
 

5. Pay the remainder of NCA Program fees

WHEN
Refer to the Fee Instalment Schedule in the NCA Agreement.
HOW
Canadian currency, in the form of a certified cheque or money order only, payable to
“University of Toronto”.
  1. Retain for your records a receipt for, or a copy of, the certified cheque or money order
  2. Submit to the JD Admissions Office.

To verify that the deposit was received contact the JD Admissions Office.
