Donald Dewees is a professor of economics and law at the University of Toronto. He holds a doctorate and a degree in law from Harvard, and an undergraduate degree in engineering from Swarthmore. He has served as Associate Dean of the School of Graduate Studies and as Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Science. He has also been Director of Research for the Ontario Royal Commission on Asbestos, and Vice-Chair of the Market Design committee appointed to design a competitive electricity market for Ontario.

Professor Dewees' principal research and teaching interests include Law and Economics, Environmental Economics and Environmental Law. His publications include five books principally in the environmental area and many journal articles in both economics and law. His most recent research includes studies of the design of transferable permits for pollution control, the economics of recycling programs, and issues in electricity restructuring.
