Jeffrey Shafer, B.A.Sc. (dean’s list) (University of Waterloo) 2002, J.D. (with honours) (University of Toronto) 2005, called to the Bar of Ontario 2006. While at law school, he was awarded the Thorsteinssons Prize for achievement in taxation courses, the Edward J. Kowal '65 Prize for achievement in commercial law courses, the Norman Levy Prize in Jurisprudence and the Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP Prize in Taxation. Since his call to the Bar in 2006 he has been with the law firm of Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP, practising in the Tax Group. He practises in all areas of income tax law. Jeffrey’s practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, domestic and international corporate and trust reorganizations, private equity investment, the taxation of various investment vehicles and international transfer pricing. Jeffrey’s practice also includes acting for taxpayers at all levels in the tax appeals process. Jeffrey is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association, the Canadian Tax Foundation and the International Fiscal Association. Jeffrey is one of the country reporters for Canada for the 67th (2013) Congress of the International Fiscal Association in Copenhagen, Denmark.
