Duncan W. Glaholt, B.A. (Toronto) 1973, LL.B. (Toronto) 1977, FCIArb. 2010 was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1979. He is a founding partner of the internationally recognized construction law firm Glaholt LLP, specializing in the litigation, arbitration and mediation of construction claims and disputes. A recognized authority in Canadian construction law, and certified by the Law Society of Upper Canada as a Specialist in Construction Law, he has acted as lead counsel in litigation involving many large infrastructure, industrial, commercial and institutional projects throughout Canada and is the author of numerous texts and articles dealing with various aspects of construction law. Mr. Glaholt is a co-editor of the current 7th edition nationally recognized treatise Construction, Builders’ and Mechanics’’ Liens in Canada. He is the co-author of the Annotated Ontario Construction Lien Act, now in its 15th annual edition; the author of Conduct of a Lien Action, now in its 6th annual edition; and the author of Conduct of a Trust Action, 2011. Mr. Glaholt is a co-author of the Halsbury’s Laws of Canada volumes on Construction Law and ADR, and of the student editions of Construction and The Law of ADR in Canada: an Introductory Guide as well as many scholarly conference papers and journal articles. Mr. Glaholt is a Founding Fellow, former Governor and Past-President of the Canadian College of Construction Lawyers and originated and edited the Journal of the Canadian College of Construction Lawyers from 2006 through 2011. Mr. Glaholt is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a member of the Global Engineering and Construction Group of “JAMS” (Judicial Arbitration and Mediation Services), the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution services in the United States. Mr. Glaholt has served as a board member of one of Canada’s largest community hospitals, the William Osler Health System, since 2001 and has chaired the board of that organization since 2007.
