Duff Conacher, LLB (University of Toronto) 1991, is a founder of Democracy Watch, and former Executive Director from 1993-2011, and still a board member. Democracy Watch is Canada's leading non-government organization on good government and corporate responsibility issues. During his tenure as Executive Director, Democracy Watch advocated and won more than 110 changes to federal and provincial good government and corporate responsibility laws, won three (and lost two) precedent-setting court cases on democratic process and government accountability issues, and completed the most comprehensive evaluations ever undertaken of the business standards of Canada’s big banks. He also developed the criteria for the Canadian Democratic Good Government Audit Project (CDGGAP), which is undertaking the most comprehensive evaluations ever completed of Canadian federal, provincial and territorial governments' decision-making and accountability laws and enforcement systems (inspired by and based in part on the evaluations undertaken by Global Integrity and other international organizations). He is the Director of GoodOrg.ca Consulting which provides advice and services to businesses, governments and citizen organizations on customer service, reputational risk, good governance, ethics and public relations. He is also the Spokesperson for the new national educational charity Your Canada, Your Constitution (YCYC).
