Clare Burns

Clare Burns, LL.B. (Osgoode) 1988; LL.M. (London School of Economics) 1990, and was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 1991. Ms Burns is a litigation partner at WeirFoulds LLP where her practice is restricted to trusts, estates and capacity litigation.  She was previously the Children's Lawyer for Ontario, a position she held from January 13, 2003, until July 31, 2008. Prior to that time, she was a litigation partner at Torys LLP. Clare has advised a variety of corporate and individual trustees as well as beneficiaries on passings of accounts, will interpretations, undue influence claims, dependant's relief applications and mental incompetency proceedings. Clare is a member of the Trusts and Estates and Civil Litigation sections of the Canadian Bar Association of Ontario. She has been an adjunct professor at University of Western Ontario, Osgoode Hall Law School and the University of Toronto.  She is a past director of the Advocates' Society.
