Bruce Elman B. Sc. (McGill) 1971, LL.B. (Dalhousie) 1974, LL.M. (Harvard) 1975, was called to the Bar of Alberta (inactive) 1979 and the Bar of Ontario 2002. Professor Elman is currently on leave from his position as a member of the Faculty of Law at the University of Windsor. Professor Elman served as Dean of Law at Windsor from 2000 - 2011. Prior to assuming the Deanship at Windsor, Professor Elman was the Belzberg Professor of Constitutional Law (1996 - 2000) and Chair of the Centre for Constitutional Studies at the University of Alberta (1984 - 2000). He was first appointed to the Faculty of Law at the University of Alberta in 1975. He was the Arthur C. McCalla Research Professor (1985-86) and Associate Dean (1991-94). He was Visiting Professor of Law and Canadian Studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem from 1988-89 and 1995-96. He has been honoured with teaching awards at both the University of Alberta and Hebrew University. As Dean of Law, Professor chaired the boards of Legal Assistance of Windsor, Community Legal Aid, and the University of Windsor Mediation Services. Professor Elman is the co-editor of Rotman, Elman, and Gall, Constitutional Law: Cases, Commentary and Principles, Thomson Carswell: 2008, Professor Elman has written extensively in Constitutional Law, Evidence, and Criminal Law. He is the Centre for the Legal Profession’s Visiting Scholar in Residence for 2011-2012 and is a Visiting Professor at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. As of August 1st, 2011, Professor Elman assumed the position of Integrity Commissioner for the City of Windsor.
