Adjunct Professor

Ari N. Kaplan, BA (Hons) (McGill) 1994, LLB (Osgoode) 1997, LLM (Osgoode) 2001, QMed (ADR Institute of Canada) 2015, is a partner at Koskie Minsky LLP and is Canada’s first professional mediator with expertise in pension law. He is the author of Pension Law (2006), Canada’s first textbook in the field, for which he received the Walter Owen Book Prize for outstanding new contribution to Canadian legal literature. He co-authored Pension Law (2nd ed.) (2013) with Mitch Frazer. Ari is top-ranked by Chambers Global - World’s Leading Lawyers (Band 1). Lexpert recognized Ari as one of Canada’s leading 500 lawyers and he was the 2013 "Lawyer of the Year" from Best Lawyers in Canada (Toronto Employee Benefits Law). Ari has appeared in the Courts of most provinces and the Supreme Court of Canada. From 2010-2012 Ari was the Attorney General’s appointee to the Board of Trustees of the Law Foundation of Ontario and he is a member of the board of directors of the Ontario Justice Education Network. He is an ambassador for the #FlipYourWig campaign. Ari is an adjunct professor of law at the University of Toronto and teaches pension law. Ari leads alternative dispute resolution (ADR) with mediationbenefits.co and is a founding member of the Family Dispute Resolution Institute of Ontario.
