Apple Newton-Smith, B.A. (Hon.) (McGill) 1994, LL.B. (Queen’s) 1997, called to the Bar of Ontario in 1999, certified by the Law Society of Upper Canada as a Specialist in Criminal Law.  Ms. Newton-Smith is  a partner at the firm of Berkes Newton-Smith.  She practices exclusively criminal and quasi criminal law at both the trial and appellate level. Actively involved in professional development, she has participated in the newly Appointed Provincial Judge’s program, the Newly Appointed Justice of the Peace’s Conference and the Criminal Lawyer’s Association Young Lawyer’s Conference.  She has also written articles for the Toronto Lawyer’s Association and Criminal Lawyer’s Association newsletters and appeared on continuing legal education panels.
