Students may enroll in an intensive course that conflicts with a regular course as an exception to the general rule that students may not take courses which conflict on the timetable. Attendance at intensive courses is mandatory for the duration of the course and takes precedence over regular courses.

Schedule: Weeks of January 21 and 28, 2012

The law of fiduciary obligations has roots at least as old as the eighteenth century. During the last half of the twentieth century, however, the practical importance of this subject exploded, as it became a pillar of governance both in private law and public law. The same period has seen the development of multiple competing visions of the scope and theoretical justification for fiduciary obligations. This course considers the main views that have evolved regarding the nature and content of fiduciary obligations; the justification for their imposition; and the available remedies for their enforcement and in cases of breach.

Evaluation
Students will be required to write a paper of 2500 to 3000 words, which will be graded on an Honours/Pass/Fail basis for JD students and the SGS scale for graduate students. Papers must be delivered to the Records Office by 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 26, 2013. Graduate students will be graded on the graduate scale.
