The Blackboard program will be used for this course. Students must self-enrol in Blackboard prior to the start of school in both terms in order to obtain course information.

This course examines the enforcement of promises and agreements. The matters considered include the requirements of enforceability, remedies for breach, the effect of contracts on third parties, the effect of writing, and excuses for non-performance. These excuses include unfairness, unexpected circumstances, and public policy.

Evaluation
A mid-year fail-safe examination (20% of the final examination grade if to the student’s advantage) and a closed-book three-hour final examination (100%, subject to fail-safe component).
