Note: Students should sign up for the Practicum when they sign up for the Aboriginal Peoples and Canadian Criminal Justice (LAW477H1F).
This is an eligible course for credit towards the Aboriginal Legal Studies Certificate.

Students are required to observe a range of court professionals (Judges, Crowns, Duty Counsel, Native Court Workers), and a range of proceedings (contested and uncontested bail hearings, contested and uncontested sentencing hearings, and a trial at Old City Hall).

Evaluation
A 20 page paper which will be graded on an Honours/Pass/Fail basis. The paper topic will discuss the insights this experience sheds on the issues covered in Aboriginal Peoples and Canadian Criminal Justice. Students must complete a checklist of required observations, which they should append to the final paper. Assignments must be submitted to the Records Office on or before the due date for written work in the term.
