New Fund Established For Acquisition of Law Books

From the Spring/Summer 2008 issue of Nexus.

U of T Professor Josiah Blackmore, an expert in medieval Spanish and Portuguese from the Department of Spanish and Portuguese, has made a donation to the Bora Laskin Law Library in memory of his father, Professor Josiah Blackmore II, a legal scholar who served both as the law school dean and former president of Capital University in Columbus, Ohio.

The donation will be used to acquire books in the areas of legal procedure, legal ethics, jurisprudence and justice.

Professor Josiah Blackmore II started his career as a sole practitioner representing underprivileged clients in family law matters and ended up a beloved university president. His son characterized him as "a scholar, administrator and humanitarian,". The Faculty of Law is grateful to his family for commemorating his illustrious career and life with their gift to the Bora Laskin Law Library.
